The eels at Jester House are usually rather feisty but with the lack of rain and such warm temperatures they are anything but. The creek they reside in has slowed up to a very slow trickle and the water is rather warm from an eels perspective. You can still feed them in the morning but just don’t expect the usual stick wrangling that goes on when feeding these magnificent megafauna under normal conditions.
The forecast was for rain today but so far we are still high and dry. It is lovely having the cloud cover and I don’t want to seem ungrateful but a good outpouring of rain from the heavens would be most appreciated not only by the eels but the garden too.
We will keep up with the nightly rain dances in the hope that it is encouraging rain not frightening it off. Fingers crossed
